Jebel Ali Free Zone is built around the world’s
largest man-made port. The initial idea behind this zone was to develop a base to
warehouse and distribute the multinational products in the Gulf.
This Free zone has now grown to include
the whole spectrum of manufacturing, trading and services to cater the entire Middle
East Region and beyond and is a leading role model in setting up other free zones
in the country . It is now a benchmark for regulations
and incentives in the Emirates. This single free zone covering a total area of 100 sq.km has now accounted
for 36% of
Dubai’s Exports and re-exports. To boost
the capacity of its port a $1.14billion expansion project has been recently announced.
This project involves building three new terminals and 82 berths equipped with 125
quayside cranes.
